The AAEP Foundation accepts equine specific funding requests that are dedicated to improving the welfare of the horse. Funds are awarded to those requests that have the most impact on a national and/or international level and for multiple horses. The horse must be the end beneficiary of any program that is funded by the Foundation.
Unfortunately, the AAEP Foundation will not grant funds for the following:
- Unwanted/Retirement Horse Programs - To facilities or programs that care for unwanted or retirement horses. This includes horses that may have been abandoned, abused or neglected. The AAEP Foundation focuses its efforts and funds for this population of horses through its assistance to the Unwanted Horse Coalition and related programs.
- Unsolicited Equine Research - For individual equine research projects that it has not solicited directly through a call for pre-proposals. However, it may provide support for projects or events that support the coordination of equine research (i.e. equine research workshops and symposiums that assist with the prioritization, education and/or collaboration of equine research for the industry).
